Since it was still quite early in the morning I decided to work on learning how to play the guitar. Growing up I always seemed to be able to learn music faster then my siblings so I was eager to put my abilities to good use.
Finally I stopped being a coward and headed out into the rain. Arriving at the stable I let Acorn out of his stall. He was quite grateful for he was dying for his morning breakfast.
Acorn had all ready gone through one bale of hay so I had to unbundled another one.
While I was working on his morning meal Acorn showed his genius side by teaching himself the first level of the Racing Skill.
After he had his breakfast it was time for training. To my luck the rain had stop so I wouldn't have to worry about damaging my tack.
My skills at mounting have gotten slightly better.
Steering Acorn over to the jumping course I decided that it was time to advance Acorn up to the next set of jumps. Once again he blew away as he easily cleared the wooden fence on his first try.
Deciding that he needed more of a challenge I was going to jump him over the stone fence. This time though he knocked over the wooden fence and then refused to jump the stone fence. Not that I blame him because I would be hesitant to jump something even harder after I hit a collapsible wooden fence.
I called it good for the day because I was planning on entering him in a competition in the evening. As I tried to get off of Acorn my foot got stuck in the stirrup and I landed on my butt next to my horse. I'm sure that Acorn was laughing at me.
It was time for lunch so I headed inside. Acorn made a beeline for the water trough because we had been training so hard.
For the rest of the afternoon I read more about horses for I was considering buying a mare so that I could start breeding. Acorn was using his resting time to try to find more food by digging holes in his pasture.
The hours ticked by and soon it was time for us to get ready for the show. I showed how good I am at mounting by some how managing to do it backwards. Once I was sitting the right way we headed off to the Equestrian Center to enter our first show. I decided that we were going to enter a Beginners Racing class because Acorn had 2 levels in Racing compared to One in Jumping. In the end we manged to get 4th place! Our first ever competition and we got 4th!
That night as I got ready for bed my thoughts once again turned to adding another horse to our family.
